Douglas MacArthur Golliday departed this life on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, while surrounded by his family in Marietta, Georgia. Douglas attended South Calhoun High School, Calhoun City MS and he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist church, Gore Springs, MS. Douglas was employed at Weyerhaeuser for 30 plus years and retired in 2007. Douglas was affectionately called Poppie by his children and grandchildren. He loved fishing, watching westerns, playing his harmonica, dancing, spending time with his grandchildren, and singing old R&B songs. On June 27, 1981, in Chicago, IL, Douglas was joined in marriage to Johnsie Roland, sharing 35 years of laughter and love.
Douglas was the son of the late Jessie Golliday and Elnora Roberson. He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Johnsie Golliday, his son, Brian Golliday, brothers Will and Tommie Gene, sisters, Lela Sallie, Jessie Lee and his wonderful dog G-Baby Golliday.
Douglas’ memories will forever be cherished by his children, Shequitta (William) Parker, Atlanta, GA, Alisa Williams, Marietta, GA, Michelle Adams, Chicago, IL, Leon Roland (Lisa), Bowling Green, KY, Terry (Karla) Jordan, Decatur IL, grandchildren, Khaliai, Dviyia, Najee, Terrell (Keshia), Le’Undre, Marquitta, Tatiana, Terry Jr., Kaylan, Cassidy, Trey and Amir, great-grandchildren Jonas, Janelle, Journee, Michael, Maya, Michael Pierce III, Cypher, Laiani and
Linaya, brother and sister-in-law, Frank (Edna) Golliday, sister, Shelba King: a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
